Skip yelled "Bar stool!" and promptly hit the guy over the head with a bar stool. I asked him if the guy could really fight, and Skip said "I dunno, he didn't get back up." He said he carried a knife with him wherever he went, but never drew it - he never had to, he was known for knocking people out with one punch - or bar stool, occasionally. Eat well, exercise, don't drink to excess, and you might live to 88. Live dangerously and party like an F'n rock star with the biggest personalities of your generation - Janis Joplin, Mick Jagger, Willie Nelson, Alan Ginsberg, Timothy Leary, Jerry Garcia, and still make it to 73 - sounds like a fair trade. I'm glad I was able to hear his stories. I think he lived the life all the baby boomers want to pretend they did. Skip absolutely had his flaws, but there's never going to be anyone else like him, and he'll be missed.
