It is better to stand up for the truth, even if it can be painful or embarrassing, because the consequences of the opposite are worse. Yes, one can buy time, but can that person sleep at night?
In the case the boy who told the reporters that he tried to save the mule, he was surely satisfied with the lie because he obviously died with it - except that everybody knows it forever and ever.</description>
